ROOKVERSE · LONG LIVE THE KING!
Privacy & Limits
A clear view of what stays, what travels, and what to check.
Your identity and games
No registration is required. Your browser stores a random guest recovery token. The server stores its hash, profile name, games, learning milestones, favorites and adviser conversations in a persistent Cloudflare Durable Object SQLite database. Anyone with your recovery code can access your profile; do not share it publicly. Invitation links allow access to their game and its public game details.
Two editions
ROOKVERSE Online uses Stockfish and visual lessons. It makes no language-model inference requests and has no Workers AI binding. ROOKVERSE Desktop runs Stockfish and Gemma 4 on your own computer. Questions and images are sent only to a loopback Ollama endpoint; cloud model names and remote endpoints are rejected. Models require an initial download. Desktop conversations and games stay in your local SQLite database.
Connection and storage
The application, assets, live connections and persistent storage are hosted on Cloudflare, which processes connection traffic under its own policies. The application has no advertising, analytics trackers or remote fonts. Operational errors may be logged for diagnosis. Browser caches store application assets; Couch games stay in local browser storage. Clearing browser storage removes local saves and credentials, but does not erase server records or backups. There is no automatic retention deadline or self-service server deletion interface.
Chess and AI limits
Stockfish 19 Lite verifies legal continuations and supplies bounded-search evaluations. Its smaller neural network and bounded search differ from the full desktop engine. Gemma explanations can still be mistaken. Image recognition can confuse pieces, colors or orientation; inspect every draft before confirming. Progress indicators reflect reviewed samples and exercises, not certified ratings. Difficulty labels are friendly names rather than official chess titles.
Resource limits
Online requests and Stockfish searches are bounded to control cloud workload. Desktop model performance depends on your hardware. There is no remote inference fallback.
Fair play and availability
Engine assistance is disabled during active human games. Timed games continue through dialogs and disconnections. The application uses casual automatic draw adjudication, not tournament arbiter procedures. Online games depend on Cloudflare. Desktop inference and local games run independently on your computer. Neither edition depends on Nexus. Cloudflare availability and account quotas still apply. Video export depends on browser support. Mobile testing used Chromium emulation rather than a physical handset.
Software and artwork
The application and original vector artwork are distributed under GPL-3.0-or-later. Third-party components retain their own licenses. The identity card's copyright notice does not replace those licenses. Read software and asset credits and the GPL license.
